First Anniversary Giveaway

It's unbelievable, the first year is already passed! Which better way to celebrate it with a super cute giveaway? We have to celebrate another thing....today is my five hundred post! Incredible!

When did you open your shop and why you become a shopgirl?

I opened my Etsy shop in the summer of 2009. I started with my "Scarlett aprons" -- aprons I make from upcycled vintage sheets. In September I added my cardigans -- thrift sweaters that I embellish with a mix of vintage and handmade trims.
I've always loved fashion and have been creating, sewing and selling at local shows a variety of home furnishing (pillows, cushions, etc...) for the last three years. I decided Etsy would be a great way for me to reach a wider audience that could enjoy my creations outside of Colorado.

Where do you find your inspiration?

My inspiration comes from my own personal style. I grew up in the "preppy ear" and have always been drawn to classic, clean looks. But it's the girlie girl in me that loves a ruffle here and flower there -- and something glittery any time of day.

You love to give things a second chance, tell us how can you do it.

 I love the idea of recycling and upcycling. Why not take something that already exists, tweak it a bit, improve it and give it a second chance to charm others. Many times we're tired of a piece of clothing we might have, or we get bored looking at the same drapes, or bed linens. But if they're in good condition, why not mix it up a little, get creative and salvage a piece that might have otherwise been tossed out.
