{Blanc MariClo'} Behind the scenes- How it's made

Here we are, again behind the scenes, the part that I prefer.

This time, Mariangela and Claudia from Blanc MariClo' will show us how it's made a mirror frame.

We love pronvencal inspired mirror frames for our homes, but how are they created?

~

Eccoci nuovamente qui, ancora una volta a sbirciare dietro le quinte, la parte che personalmente preferisco.

Questa volta, Mariangela e Claudia, ideatrici di Blanc MariClo', ci mostreranno come e dove nascono le loro splendide cornici shabby.

Tutte noi amiamo riempere le nostre case di specchi con cornici dai colori e legni che ci ricordano la provenza, ma ci siamo mai chieste come e dove nascono?

There are two different kind of Blanc's frames, one made of wooden and others made with wood pulp. These last framses are totally made in Italy, in a very impressive factory.

The pulp comes from a mix of sawdust, oil, glue and solvents, which are then placed in special equipment to make them pliable rolls.

Finally the wooden pulps are placed onto frame's molds and allow them to dry for a week.

Esistono due diversi tipi di cornici Blanc, in legno oppure in pasta di legno.
Quest'ultime vengono completamente realizzate in Italia, in una fabbrica molto suggestiva.
La pasta di legno nasce da un mix di polvere di legno, olio, colla e solventi. Ottenuta la pasta, questa viene lavorata con dei macchinari specifici che ne creano dei rotoli malleabili.

Questi ultimi vengono poi inseriti dentro gli stampi e fatti asciugare per una settimana.

Once dried, the wooden pulp is ready to be polished and then gilded with gold leaf.
All finishes and gilding are all made by hand.

Gilding is a decorative technique and consists in the art of applying gold leaf or a substance like gold to a surface.

Una volta asciugate, le cornici sono pronte per essere levigate e verniciate o decorate con l'oro.

Tutte le finiture e la dorutatura vengono realizzate completamente a mano.

La doratura come molte sapranno, è quel processo decorativo che consiste nell'applicazione di un sottilissimo strato di oro, detto anche foglia.

A secret hide-away

These are so fun :) The other day I came across these pics on the beautiful 79ideas blog, and  I immeditately fell in love with them.

Queste mini casette sono troppo divertenti :) L'altro giorno mi sono imbattuta in queste immagini nel bellissimo blog 79ideas e non potevo non innamorarmene.

There is a man in UK, Paulus Smith, who creates these beautiful garden retreat, spare room, office or secret hide-away (love it!).
~
In Inghilterra, il signor Paulus Smith crea queste straordinarie mini casettine che possono essere utilizzate sia come piccolo rifugio in giardino, sia come ufficio o anche come una casetta segreta (adoro!).

 It a wonderfully romantic alternative to conventional garden structures!
But first,  I need a garden :)

Sono una meravigliosa e romanticissima alternativa alle solite strutture che si trovano nei giardini!
Prima pero' mi servirebbe un giardino :)

With the new season I decided to create my own photography website.

I am thinking about it since last year, and now I am working on it.

I am creating also a new blog desing, more fresh and simple.

I don't know, maybe is spring, but I'd like to change and to have a new look :)

 Con la nuova stagione ho anche deciso di creare un sito tutto mio, dedicato esclusivamente alle mie foto.

Da circa un anno ci pensavo e da molto tempo alcune mie amiche mi consigliavano di farlo (vero Laura? vero Ale? vero Lelia? vero Sarah?)...così l'ho fatto :)

Ci sto lavorando da circa una settimana e spero presto di poterlo mettere online, insieme ad un nuovo design più semplice e pulito per il blog.

Sarà la primavera forse, ma non so, ho voglia di rinfrescare un po' il tutto con un nuovo e più semplice look.

Ah, prima che nascano polemiche, avrete visto che anche Gaia è al lavoro su un sito tutto suo, proprio sabato sera ne parlavamo ed eccoci qui oggi: entrambe a presentarvi questo nuovo progetto. Ed il bello è che ce ne sono tanti altri in arrivo...  :)

Oggi vorrei aggiungere un'altra piccola nota personale dedicata ad una ragazza che mi ha scritto l'altro giorno accusandomi di insensibilità nei confronti della tragedia che ha da poco colpito il Giappone. Il motivo? Non aver partecipato alla giornata del silenzio.

Non avrei voluto rendere pubblica questa cosa, ma purtroppo non ho una mail dove poterti scrivere quindi, eccomi qui.

Mi spiace averti delusa, non era certo mia intenzione.

I motivi del mio non silenzio? Semplicissimo, stupidamente non ero a conoscenza di questa iniziativa.

L'ho scoperta il giorno stesso, ma a sera tardi quando il mio post, che come sempre programmo di settimana in settimana, era già online.

Un motivo davvero banale come vedi.

Sicuramente una bellissima iniziativa, ma credo che in queste situazioni contino molto di più i fatti e gli aiuti concreti rispetto ad una giornata di silenzio su un blog...

Lo so benissimo che la vita non è fatta solo di collane e belle foto come hai voluto gentilmente ricordarmi tu. Se tu mi conoscessi un pochino di più, forse avresti soppesato diversamente le tue parole e conoscendo il mio trascorso degli ultimi 10 anni questa cosa proprio non me l'avresti detta.

Le ultime settimane sono state piuttosto intense per me, sia nel lavoro che nei preparativi per il matrimonio, ma oggi ho finalmente un giorno per respirare e dedicarmi con calma a questo post pieno di decor ideas deliziose.

Dato che come tutte ormai sapete, il prossimo 14 Maggio mi sposero', appena ho visto queste immagini un po' vintage, mi sono subito sentita ispirata ed un sacco di nuove idee mi sono venute in mente! Laura non ti spaventare ;)

As my wedding is really close, I'd like to keep you updated about preparations :)
Well, after a long search I finally found the perfect ballerinas for my wedding dress and a fantastic milliner for my hair accessories!
Invitations are almost ready to be sent, I can't wait to show you!
The graphic designed by Valentina is similar to our save the date but Laura and I,have added a special touch to the packaging...I can't say more :) You'll see!

 A proposito, vi devo aggiornare su un paio di news mi sa :)
Dopo una lunga ricerca ho finalmente trovato le ballerine perfette per il mio vestito e anche una straordinaria modista! Che cosine splendide ho visto per abbellire la mia acconciatura (che sarà comunque molto semplice)....due in particolare, diverse tra loro ma molto me!
Inviti e partecipazioni sono in fase di stampa, non vedo l'ora di mostrarveli!
La grafica di Valentina è rimasta in tema a quella realizzata per i nostri save the date, ma io e Laura abbiamo aggiunto un tocco speciale alla "confezione"...non dico altro per ora :)

Shabby Day~Part Two

 Yesterday we left them in the middle of the lunch, while they were eating Irene's delicious sandwiches..and here they are again, back to work, painting their furnitures.

 ~

Ieri le abbiamo lasciate mentre erano intente a gustarsi i deliziosi panini di Irene, chiedendoci cosa avrebbero combinato dopo...ed eccole qui, tutte nuovamente al lavoro, a dipingere i loro mobili shabby.

Sarah is an amazing teacher, she's always there for you, helping you and answering all your questions.

~

Sarah è una straordinaria maestra, sempre pronta a rispondere alle mille domande ed aiutare tutte le ragazze.

...she has always a big smile on her face and the sweetness that sets her apart.

All the girls were great students too! They have worked so hard with excellent results!

~

...tutto questo lo fa sempre con un sorriso stampato sulla faccia e quella dolcezza che la contraddistingue.

Bravissime anche le ragazze! Si sono date un sacco da fare ed i risultati si sono visti!

Shabby Day~Part One

Fresh flowers, orange juice, delicious pastries, a strong coffee and here we are, ready to start the Shabby Day with Sarah from Shabby Chic Interiors.
Sarah is one, or even better, the One, italian expert of Shabby Chic.
Her courses are always followed by so many girls ready to learn from a great teacher like Sarah is.

~

Fiori freschi, succo d'arancia, pasticcini, un caffè forte ed eccoci pronte per iniziare la giornata Shabby con Sarah di Shabby Chic Interiors.

Sarah è senza dubbio una, se non la maggiore,  esperta di Shabby Chic che ci sia in Italia ed i suoi corsi sono sempre seguitissimi da tante ragazze entusiaste di imparare da una maestra come lei.

At the end of the coffe break, the girls started working.

After a quick introduction, brushes and products in their hands, the course officially started.

There were a lot of things to do!

 Finita la pausa caffè, le ragazze si sono messe subito al lavoro.

Dopo una breve introduzione di Sarah, pennelli e prodotti vari alla mano,  è iniziato il corso vero e proprio.

C'erano parecchie cose da fare!

 At the beginning work is boring but they it's really important for the final success of the work.

There were a lot of things to disassemble!

Lunchtime is approaching...

Smonta qui, smonta lì, carta di qua, carta di là...le operazioni iniziali sono sempre quelle più brigose. Ma la preparazione del mobile è una fase fondamentale per la buona riuscita finale del lavoro.

In un batter d'occhio arriva l'ora di pranzo...

...pleasant smells started coming out from the kitchen where Irene was preparing lunch for us

...buoni profumini iniziano ad uscire dalla cucina dove Irene è al lavoro per noi.

 At 01:00 p.m. silence in the room...we were all busy eating Irene's sandwiches. They were placed in a pretty lunch box.

The "Shabby" Weekend

Saturday morning, Gaia and I, woke up at six. We took our cameras, our bags, my winnie pooh and we went to the train station.
Destination: Florence, Tuscany.

Sarah organized, in collaboration with Irene, a "Shabby Day" at Valdirose.
 A full immersion of Shabby techniques for one day.

Today, I'd like to post other images, a special way to say thank you to Irene and Paolo, for their hospitality and sweetness.
A way to celebrate the charming location of this Shabby Day, the utterly beautiful Valdirose.

Sabato mattina, io e Gaia ci siamo alzate alle sei del mattino. Abbiamo preso le nostre macchine fotografiche, i nostri bagagli, il mio winnie pooh e siamo corse in stazione, un treno per Firenze ci attendeva.

Sarah aveva organizzato, in collaborazione con Irene, una giornata di corsi Shabby al Valdirose.

Una full immersion di tecniche Shabby Chic.

Irene has a thing for details, and this is one of the thing that I love most...beautiful little details are everywhere!

Irene e suo marito Paolo, si occupano di questo B&B con tanto amore e passione e lo si vede in ogni angolo.

Irene ha un debole per i dettagli e questa come sapete, è una delle cose che amo di più...piccoli e preziosi dettagli sono sparsi un po' ovunque al Valdirose.

There's Otto, the super cute little dog...he peed on my suede shoes Saturday evening! Hahaha :)

And Bea, a wonderful girl, their most precious jewel. Doesn't she look gorgeous? 

She have had a lot of fun with the masks that Gaia and I given to her. Many laughts :)

Non dimentichiamoci di Otto, una birba di cagnolino...che dall'emozione sabato sera mi ha spruzzato di pipì le scarpette di camoscio :) Patato!

E la Bea, una meraviglia di bambina che è il loro gioiello più prezioso...poco fotogenica vero? Mezza scheda l'ho usata per fotografare lei! :) Quanto si è divertita con le maschere che le abbiamo regalato io e Gaia...che risate ci siamo fatte :)

Davvero un bellissimo weekend...peccato sia già finito!
